LS ELECTRIC, together with Dohwa Engineering, was selected by Godo Tamayama Mega Nikko of Japan to develop and operate the Morioka Solar Power Station in Iwate Prefecture. The two companies signed a turnkey EPC (Engineering, Procurement and Construction) and O&M (Operation and Maintenance) contract with the investor.
The project was carried out through the LS ELECTRIC–Dohwa Engineering Consortium. Completed in July 2019, the Morioka Solar Power Station has a capacity of 50MW and covers an area of 1.25 million square meters. The consortium also entered into a PPA (Power Purchase Agreement) with Tohoku Electric Power to supply electricity to approximately 16,000 households annually. LS ELECTRIC took charge of delivering core power equipment such as photovoltaic modules, overseeing construction, ensuring power generation efficiency, as well as operation and maintenance through its local subsidiary. This marked the company’s fourth large-scale solar project in Japan since becoming the first Korean enterprise to enter the market in 2009.
Building on these successful project executions, LS ELECTRIC expects the number of large-scale solar power developments to rise steadily, not only in Japan but also worldwide, as the transition to renewable energy accelerates. Leveraging its technological strengths in smart energy and EPC expertise, the company aims to expand globally while also strengthening its presence in the home solutions and offshore PV (Photovoltaics) sectors with tailored marketing strategies.
